Cookie & Tracking Notice

Last updated: May 2026. This notice may be updated as TruckZen's services, vendors, and legal requirements change.

1. Scope

This notice describes the storage mechanisms TruckZen uses inside the web application served from truckzen.proand its mobile-friendly views (the "Service"). It supplements the TruckZen Privacy Policy.

2. Categories of storage we use

Essential session cookies. Required to keep you signed in and to render the right shop / role context. These cookies are set by our authentication provider and by our application server. They cannot be disabled while you use the Service.

Browser local storage. The Service may write small, non-sensitive interface state into your browser's local storage to remember preferences and recent context between sessions — for example, last-used list filters, panel sizes, theme, and the acknowledgment of this Cookie & Tracking Notice. Local storage values are scoped to the TruckZen origin.

Browser session storage. The Service may use browser session storage for transient values that should not persist beyond the current browser tab.

Terminal device-trust cookie. Where your shop administrator has enrolled a workplace clock-in terminal, the Service sets a hashed device-trust cookie on that terminal so the Service can recognize the terminal on subsequent clock-in events. The cookie value is hashed; the underlying terminal record is stored server-side and can be revoked by an administrator.

Approved-network context. Where your shop administrator has configured approved networks (for example, the office or shop network's CIDR block), the Service may associate clock-in events with the approved-network identifier server-side. This is derived from the network address your browser connects from; it is not stored in your browser as a cookie or local-storage value.

Error and performance telemetry. The Service uses a third-party error-monitoring and diagnostic provider (Sentry) to detect and investigate Service issues. Telemetry sent to that provider is sanitized: default personally identifiable information collection is suppressed, session-replay capture on errors is disabled, URL query strings are sanitized before transmission, and the public error page shows only an opaque incident identifier rather than raw error text.

Advertising trackers. The Service does not use third-party advertising trackers or cross-site advertising cookies.

3. Cookie Preferences Center categories

The in-app Cookie Preferences Center groups the storage above into four categories so you can choose what is optional. We do not claim full GDPR or CCPA compliance; this notice is a transparency tool, not a legal certification.

Necessary — always on. Authentication, session security, CSRF / security, terminal device-trust, legal acceptance, and essential Service operation. These cannot be turned off because the Service cannot function without them.

Preferences — optional. Theme, UI state, saved local settings such as list filters and panel sizes. You may toggle this off; the Service will still work but may not remember your local UI choices between sessions.

Diagnostics — optional. Sanitized error and performance telemetry sent to our error-monitoring provider (Sentry). Session replay is disabled and there is no advertising profile. You may toggle this off. If you toggle it off, the choice is stored locally for any future analytics or diagnostics initialization to honor.

Marketing — not used. TruckZen does not use marketing or advertising trackers, so this category is shown as disabled / not used in the preferences center.

4. Your choices and controls

You can manage cookies and storage through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies, session storage, or local storage will prevent the Service from working correctly — you may not be able to sign in, your role / shop context may not load, and workplace clock-in features may not work on enrolled terminals.

If you are an administrator and you want to revoke a terminal's device-trust enrollment, you can do so through the workplace clock-in configuration in the Service settings; the corresponding revocation timestamp is recorded server-side and the terminal is no longer recognized.

To change your in-app Cookie Preferences Center selection, click the small Cookie Settings button shown after you save a choice, or clear your browser storage to reset the choice and see the banner again.

5. Acknowledgment

The in-app Cookie Preferences Center stores your category choices in your browser's local storage under truckzen_cookie_preferences_v1 (version 2026-05-c1). Earlier versions of the Service used a simpler acknowledgment key (truckzen_cookie_notice_ack = 2026-05); the new key replaces it. Your acknowledgment is per-browser and is non-blocking — the Service continues to operate whether you have or have not interacted with the notice.

6. Updates

We may update this notice from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page.
